Aeropress
The Aerobie Aeropress has become one of the most popular brewers in the world. Expect smoother, richer flavours without the bitterness.
What you'll need
- 16g fresh Kaphibeans coffee (use more if you prefer stronger coffee )
- Aeropress
- Aeropress Filters
- Aeropress paddle (You can also use a spoon)
- Kettle with approx 300ml of water
- Timer
- Your favourite coffee mug
Before you start brewing
Make sure your Aeropress coffee maker is clean and dry. If the seal around the plunger is not properly cleaned, it will not form a good seal.
Step by step guide
Step 1 - Boil your kettle and leave the water to rest for 1 minute
Step 2 - Place a filter paper into the Aeropress filter holder (this is the black cap at the end of the Aeropress that you can unscrew) and rinse the filter paper under warm tap water (This is to rinse out any papery taste that could affect the flavour of your coffee)
Step 3 - Assemble your Aeropress by inserting the plunger into the main chamber, until the black seal is level with the number 4 on the Aeropress
Step 4 - Pour in 16g of your fresh Kaphibeans coffee and gently tap the Aeropress so that the coffee grinds become level.
Step 5 - Gently pour the hot kettle water until it reaches the bottom of number 1
Step 6 - Stir the coffee using the Aeropress paddle (or spoon) 3 to 4 times
Step 7 - Start your timer and allow the coffee to rest for 1 minute (this is the blooming phase, which releases the trapped CO2 gas leading to a richer, smoother coffee)
Step 8 - After 1 minute has passed, screw in the Aeropress end cap. Then place your mug upsidedown onto the Aeropress and carefully flip the whole stack
Step 9 - Push the plunger down, until all the coffee has been extracted
Step 10 - Enjoy your freshly brewed cup of coffee!
To clean the Aeropress, unscrew the Aeropress cap and discard the puck of coffee. It's that simple!
